Through the development of practical Design and Technology skills we aim to promote our shared school vision of Believe and Achieve focusing on the whole child; Head, Heart and Hand. With this in mind, children are given opportunities to plan, make and evaluate simple mechanisms and structures that have a purpose in every day life.
D and T skills are taught and built upon over time at an age appropriate level for each year group. Children also learn about nutrition, cooking and food preparation.

At Welwyn St Mary’s we nurture creativity, cross curricular links and innovation through our design curriculum. We value ideas that promote sustainability and enterprise. Through D and T pupils feel confident to evaluate and identify ways in which their designs can be modified and improved.
