Year 6 visit to Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre 2017.

Year 6 followed up their Shakespeare studies with a trip to the world renowned Globe Theatre in London this May. We were shown into the theatre and narrowly missed being able to watch a rehearsal of Twelfth Night. We found out lots of information about the theatre. For example, did you know that there is no roof because when the original theatre was built 400 years ago there was no electricity and it would have been very difficult to light the inside of the building adequately? The lack of roof meant that the cast and audience enjoyed a shared light.

We also took part in an acting workshop where we learnt a great deal about Macbeth. It was good fun too! We had lunch in the Turbine Room at Tate Modern and then came home.
