Prayers of the week

13th July 2020

Lord God,

Let your peace rest so gently on our hearts and minds

that we may have the strength

to work for peace in our world,

today, tomorrow and for ever.

Amen

6th July 2020

Lord you are love,

Lord, you are peace.

Lord, you are our gentle strength.

You are with us wherever we go

So we need not be afraid.

For your love, your peace and your strength

We thank you, now and always.

Amen

29th June 2020

Dear God,

Please bless our families,

give to those who care for us

the spirit of understanding and the spirit of love

that our homes may be places of peace and of laughter

for Jesus’ sake

Amen

22nd June 2020

Lord Jesus Christ,

You taught us to love our neighbour,

And to care for those in need

As if we were caring for you.

In this time of anxiety, give us strength

To comfort the fearful, to tend the sick,

And to assure the isolated

of our love, and your love,

For your name’s sake.

Amen

15th June 2020

God of love and hope,

You made the world and care for all creation,

But the world feels strange right now.

The news is full of stories about Coronavirus.

Some people are worried that they might get ill.

Others are anxious for their family and friends.

Be with them and help them to find peace.

We pray for the doctors and nurses and scientists,

And all who are working to discover the right

Medicines to help those who are ill.

Thank you that even in these anxious times,

You are with us.

Help us to put our trust in you and keep us safe.

Amen.

8th June 2020

Holy and loving God

Open our eyes to see you,

Open our minds to trust you;

Open our hearts to love you

This day and for evermore.

Amen

1st June 2020

Gracious God,

Give skill, sympathy and resilience
to all who are caring for the sick,
and your wisdom to those searching for a cure.
Strengthen them with your Spirit,
that through their work many will be restored to health;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

25th May 2020

God of compassion,

be close to those who are ill, afraid or in isolation.
In their loneliness, be their consolation;
in their anxiety, be their hope;
in their darkness, be their light;
through him who suffered alone on the cross,
but reigns with you in glory,
Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

18th May 2020

Dear God,

In this time of worry and uncertainty where people are getting so ill and normal life has had to stop, we ask for you to strengthen us and support us as we work through these changes.  Life feels strange and difficult, please help us to feel your love and peace.

Amen.

11th May 2020

Dear God,

We are so thankful that we have scientists with skills and talents to be able to help at times like this.  They are working around the clock trying to find vaccine and medicine to fight this virus.  We ask that they will soon find the medications needed to help and that they and their families stay well.

Amen
