Welwyn St Mary’s Primary School have been awarded prestigious membership of Music Mark. This is in recognition of their outstanding dedication to delivering high quality music education for all in a broad and balanced curriculum.
The school offers a wide range of music tuition for each year group, has an instrumental ensemble and three choirs. Years 4-6 choir has over 50 members, Chamber Choir can all read music and Community Choir is for adults from Welwyn and the wider community. Additionally over 100 pupils are learning a musical instrument. Standards are very high thanks to the dedication of instrumental teachers and the dynamic leadership of Emma Harrison who leads the music teaching in the school.
The choirs perform regularly in public including at least two charity concerts per year, supporting local and national causes. For more Information about joining the Community Choir, please concert the school office.
Here at Welwyn St Mary’s we are proud of our musical tradition. Many of our children play instruments and today they gathered together to have their photographs taken. As you can see, we are fortunate to have such a wealth of musical talent – from pianists to ukelele players and from recorder players to bassoon players.
Well done all of you!!
